Business and Community Leaders from Across Denton County Announce Support for Myra Crownover’s Campaign

January 17, 2012 (Denton, Texas) – Today State Representative Myra Crownover released a preliminary list of local supporters, and the endorsements of several key conservative organizations.

“I have worked hard to represent Denton County for 10 years in Austin and I am humbled and proud to have the support of so many community leaders” said Crownover.

The elected officials listed as supporters include: Congressman Michael Burgess, State Senators Jane Nelson, Craig Estes, Florence Shapiro, and Dan Patrick, State Representatives Burt Solomons and Tan Parker, County Judge Mary Horn, all four County Commissioners, six local mayors, and Denton County Sherriff Benny Parkey. (See the full list below).

Representative Crownover also announced several endorsements from key conservative groups, including: Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC, The Texas Civil Justice League PAC, and The Heidi Group.  Her endorsements are no surprise as Myra has consistently supported tort reform, free markets, the 2nd Amendment, and pro-life issues.

Representative Crownover has an “A” rating from the Texas State Rifle Association and has a 100% voting record on 2nd Amendment issues. She has been endorsed by the TSRA in every election that she has been a candidate.  The Texas Conservative Coalition recently named her a “Courageous Conservative” (their highest award), and the Texas Association of Business named her a “Champion of Free Enterprise” (their highest award) for the fourth legislative session straight.

“Myra Crownover is an advocate for Denton County and a fiscal conservative.  The business community has always counted on Rep Crownover to make principled decisions.  Frankly, we need more elected officials like Myra” said Bill Hammond, President - Texas Association of Business.

Representative Crownover has served four terms on the House Appropriations Committee and is Vice-Chair of the Energy Resources Committee.  During her time on Appropriations general revenue spending has decreased by 5.3%. in 2009 the House Republican Caucus named her “Guardian of the Rainy Day Fund” and in 2011 her Republican colleagues unanimously elected her to serve as Vice-Chair of the Caucus.

Representative Crownover is a fourth generation Texan and has lived and worked in Denton County for over 30 years.
